Festival Fun Times!

By

August is Edinburgh Festival time at Hannah Zakari!

We’re lucky all year round to live in Edinburgh, but in August it’s a whole other level! The city is totally transformed by street performers, pop up venues, weird and wonderful sights, and lots and lots of visitors. It’s a wild time to call this city home!

The Edinburgh Festival is nearly over now, so it feels like a good moment to step back and think about all the things that make this time of year unique.

The Fun

The Edinburgh Festival brings a whole new energy to the city! The party atmosphere spills out onto the streets and makes the whole area feel alive. Here are a few party favourites from Hannah Zakari to add some quirky glitz to your night out:

The People

The best thing about this time of year is the amazing, creative people the festival brings with it! So many of our customers are artists and performers, and it’s so lovely to hear all about their shows and their recommendations when they come in to the shop. HZ is all about that creativity:

New Designers at Hannah Zakari – Lisa Junius and Mood Good!

By

Hannah Zakari has two amazing new designers!

It’s always super exciting when we receive new stock, and doubly so when that stock is from a new designer! That’s why we were thrilled recently to open parcels from illustrator Lisa Junius and jewellery designer Mood Good. Both designers are new to Hannah Zakari, and we think you’re going to love their work!

Lisa Junius

First to arrive was a delivery from the amazing Lisa Junius! Lisa is a multidisciplinary artist, illustrator and designer from Luxembourg. Her work is beautiful and dreamy, and uses a blue and white colour palette reminiscent of classic porcelain designs. It often depicts women in meditative poses amongst the stars, their calm expressions giving this artist’s work a peaceful feel.

Here at Hannah Zakari we have a range of Lisa’s enamel pins and patches. Each one is a tiny work of art you can carry with you everywhere; we hope you love them as much as we do!

Mood Good

We are also excited to introduce our second new designer, Mood Good! Mood Good’s aim is to produce quality jewellery that you’ll want to wear everywhere and with everything. Their pretty necklaces and rings are made in London and have a youthful feel that we love!

Our highlights from the range are the romantic Hand and Rose Necklace and the customisable Lucky Banner Ring. If you’re looking for a timeless piece of jewellery for a special birthday gift then we think Mood Good’s work is ideal!

Up Your Pin Game!

By
Hannah Zakari has the cutest pins and patches – have you upped you #pingame yet?!

Have you ever bought a new jacket purely because you’ve run out of space for lapel enamel pins on the old one? Installed a cork board on your wall not for keeping track of paperwork, but for displaying the many enamel badges you’re not currently wearing? Spent your last tenner before payday on a cute new pin you just HAD to have, even if it meant eating instant noodles for dinner three days in a row?

If so, then you have joined the ranks of the Flair Addicts; and you’re in good company. These tiny wearable artworks have been becoming exponentially more popular over the last couple of years, and here at Hannah Zakari we’ve been gradually building our collection to keep up. I don’t think it’s any exaggeration to say that our selection has become pretty enviable!

We love enamel pins because they’re a great, affordable way to get hold of some quality work by our favourite indie designers. With so many different designs available, there really is something for everyone. Here’s a few suggestions to get your collection started:

This pristine poodle by Stay Home Club will smarten up your lapel.

Or if cats are more your thing, how about this adorable artistic kitty by Bel’s Art World?

This stunning origami deer brooch by Hug A Porcupine is sure to appeal to the wild at heart.

With such a diverse range of pins out there, your problem is less likely to be finding one you like than choosing between the many you want! Might be time to buy that new jacket…
