Valentine’s Gift Ideas!

By

Romantic jewellery, art and accessories for the season of love.

Are you a lover or a hater of Valentine’s Day? The holiday of love isn’t beloved by everyone, but we think it can be nice to have a little romance and optimism injected into the greyest time of the year! And we can’t argue with all that extra chocolate. Whatever you make of the concept Valentine’s Day has its perks, right?

In that spirit we’ve put together a collection of Valentine’s gift ideas with just a hint of romance about them, from traditional gold jewellery to vibrant art and sweet cards. The independent designers behind them have used the classic symbolism of love in a fresh, interesting way that we think you’ll adore – whether you’re coupled up or not. We hope they’ll inspire you to embrace your romantic side!

Christmas Gift Guide – jewellery, stationery, art and accessories inspired by nature!

There’s a lot to love about winter. Crisp days, snow, mulled wine by a roaring fire, and of course – Christmas! One thing we don’t love, though, is the loss of all the beautiful flowers and fruit that fill our gardens in summer. If you know any keen gardeners or nature lovers, they might be feeling the same thing! That’s why we’ve created this Christmas gift guide full of colourful fruit and flower themed gift ideas. Help them to recapture the vibrancy of summer with a gorgeous flower necklace or a fun pair of fruit earrings!

The pieces below have been created by independent artists, and a gift bought from them is also a great way to support small business this Christmas while getting your loved ones something really unique! In the run up to the 25th we’ll be publishing a few of these gift guides to show off our favourite pieces by indie designers and hopefully give you some fresh gift ideas.

Introducing… Julia de Klerk!

By

Statement Floral Jewellery by Julia de Klerk!

Flowers are fabulous, don’t you think? Flower themed jewellery is always a favourite here at Hannah Zakari. Evocative of fresh spring days, it’s colourful, fun and versatile. Our love of all things floral means that we’re thrilled to introduce our newest designer to the shop: Julia de Klerk! Her delightful flower earrings and necklaces are a fresh twist on a timeless classic, and we think you’ll love her bold style.

Julia de Klerk’s jewellery is handmade from frosted acrylic in a range of bright colours. She adds texture and detail to these quirky pieces with hand etched patterns. The acrylic is heated then gently shaped into curved petals by hand, which gives them a depth rarely seen in acrylic jewellery. We love their unique 3D look!

The inspiration behind de Klerk’s jewellery comes from tropical foliage, Scandinavian design and retro floral patterns. The designer is a graduate of Goldsmiths, University of London, and now lives and works in Hampshire.

Here are some of the Julia de Klerk pieces we’re loving right now!

Festival Fun Times!

By

August is Edinburgh Festival time at Hannah Zakari!

We’re lucky all year round to live in Edinburgh, but in August it’s a whole other level! The city is totally transformed by street performers, pop up venues, weird and wonderful sights, and lots and lots of visitors. It’s a wild time to call this city home!

The Edinburgh Festival is nearly over now, so it feels like a good moment to step back and think about all the things that make this time of year unique.

The Fun

The Edinburgh Festival brings a whole new energy to the city! The party atmosphere spills out onto the streets and makes the whole area feel alive. Here are a few party favourites from Hannah Zakari to add some quirky glitz to your night out:

The People

The best thing about this time of year is the amazing, creative people the festival brings with it! So many of our customers are artists and performers, and it’s so lovely to hear all about their shows and their recommendations when they come in to the shop. HZ is all about that creativity:
